Penguins' Little Christmas card
Have yourself a merry little Christmas...
Hi and happy 2021 everyone! My first card for the new year is an holiday one. I loved the red Oxide combo I used for Christmas in 2019 and I tried to make a quick card with the same colors. I had the Mama Elephant Circular Grid die since forever but I haven't used it yet, so I decided to finally use it but in a new (to me) way: it's quite hard to see in the pictures but I used used the "negative" parts of the die and not the "positive" ones.
Anyhow, I stamped Mama Elephant Little Penguin Agenda using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and I colored them in grey/red tones using Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and later added white and gold details with gel pens.
For the background, I ink blended Distress Oxide: Tattered Rose, Candied Apple, Aged Mahogany and Black Soot and added gold splatters with Gansai Tambi White and Gold watercolor. I also used the same gold for coloring a bigger piece of paper that I later trimmed to the dimensions I needed.
At this point I used the Mama Elephant Circular Grid on the ink blended panel and I put the "positive" part aside, as I intended to use only the outer border and the inner circles of my panel. I cut another Circular Grid out of white cardstock and glued the white circles under the red ones to get thicker pieces. I could have used foam adhesive later but this way I got a better result.
I made three white rectangles using the Basic Rectangles biggest die and glued them one over the other on the center of the gold card base: then I glued the outer red frame to the gold base so it would end up lower than the white rectangle. After that, using the positive part of the red die cut panel as a guide, I glued the red circles over the white rectangle and I ended up having my "negative" circular grid card!
I added the little penguins using foam squares and I did the same for the sentiment that was previously made heat embossing in white two different sentiments from Mama Elephant Holiday Messages stamp.
