Zodiac Sheep Christmas Tree card

Oh sheep! A fluffy Christmas tree!

Welcome back and let me introduce you to this biiiig Christmas card: it's 6'' 1/2 x 8'' 1/2, probably the biggest card I ever made! I was looking through my stamps and I stumbled onto Mama Elephant Zodiac Sheep: when I saw the ball of yarn I was strucked by the idea of turning it into Christmas ornaments so I though "Why not making my own fluffy Christmas Tree using these lovely sheeps?!". Said and done!

First of all, I made a sketch of the card by stamping the sheeps on a piece of cardstock; after that, I made the masks using Inkadinkado masking paper and then stamped/masked the sheeps using a Misti tool and the previously made sketch as a guide. I used Memento Rich Cocoa for giving them a soft look and I colored them using Ws and E50s Copic Markers plus some Prismacolor pencils for the dark shadows and a white gel pen for the highlights.
I also stamped several balls of yarn and star string ornaments which I later die cut with the coordinating dies. For the star on top of the tree, I used the Oh Puppy Tree stamp.

For the background, I masked the whole tree and made a snowy hill using the hill die from Mama Elephant Slim Card Basics die set on masking paper. I highlighted the top star using Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and then made the blue night sky using Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass (from outside to inside) and later Black Soot on the borders. For the snow I splattered the panel with some white acrylic paint. Once it was dried, I removed the masking paper and added the colorful ornaments using thin foam squares.

The sentiment comes from Mama Elephant Mixed Holiday Greetings and it's probably my favorite of the whole set: I heat embossed it in white on black cardstock and made a border using white cardstock. This tiny panel was added to the card using foam tape to give it some dimension.
I wanted a gold background border but I couldn't find a matching cardstock on my stash: I tried to made my own using Gansai Tambi Gold watercolor on watercolor paper and I love the result, it's shiny but not too much! I adhered the card front to it with thick foam tape and finally added some Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter here and there for adding some sparkle.

I'm using this card for entering Simon Says Monday Challenge (favorite techniques: Copic markers coloring  and Distress Oxide background)  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.
