Handmade cards by Claudia Mauri

It's raining llamas today!

Hey there! I wanna share with you this cute card I made for my mom's birthday using one of my favorite stamp set, Llamazing Llamas, and its coordinating dies. As you probably noticed, I love making cards that resemble patterned paper by filling them with a bunch of critters: I usually leave the background white and color the animals but this time I wanted to change and I did the opposite. ^__^ We all love Distress Oxide backgrounds, don't we?

Speaking of backgrounds, that was the first thing I did. I took a piece of Heffy Doodle White Cardstock and I ink blended it with Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick, Carved Pumpkin and Squeezed Lemonade. I added splatters of white pearl watercolor, let it dry and then die cut it using the second largest rectangle from the Imperial Stitched Rectangles dies. I also used the biggest die to die cut a rectangle from kraft carstock to use as my card base. Using foam tape, I attached the colored background over the kraft one and set them aside.

On a sheet of Heffy Doodle Alcohol Marker Friendly cardstock I stamped the cuties and the accessories from the Llamazing Llamas stamp set twice (some even three times), along with a crown (Absotoothly Awesome), bows (Quill you Be Mine) and presents (Santa's Village) and I colored them with Copic markers.

COPIC LIST
LLAMAS: C1, C3, E00, E02
PINK: R00, R20, R22
ORANGE: YR00, YR04, YR07
YELLOW: Y11, Y15

I added highlights with a white gel pens and I die cut the llamas with their coordinating dies and fussy cut all the tiny images, then I placed all the critters on the ink blended background using foam squares and added all the colored accessories in the matching area of the card (I used glue for this).

Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder on black cardstock, trimmed it down and add it to the card using foam squares.

I'm using this card for entering the Simon Says Instagram Challenge.

I hope you liked my card and see you soon with another project.

Happy crafting!
Clo

Welcome to the Heffy Doodle and Catherine Pooler Collaboration Blog Hop!

Design Team members from both companies are sharing inspiration using products from both companies!

Here's the card I made for this special occasion.

MAIN SUPPLIES LIST

- Catherine Pooler: Ocean Chums stamps and dies
- Catherine Pooler Inks: Mint to Be, Cummerbund, Something Borrowed and Grape Crush
- Heffy Doodle: Slimline Quartet dies
- Heffy Doodle: Stitched Slimline Trio dies
- Heffy Doodle White cardstock
- Heffy Doodle Alchool Marker friendly cardstock
- Copic Markers

For making this card, I started with the background: I took half a sheet of Heffy Doodle White cardstock and ink blended it with Catherine Pooler Inks Mint to Be, Cummerbund, Something Borrowed and Grape Crush to create an underwater look. This was my first time using Catherine Pooler inks and I'm so happy about them, I totally fell in love with this color combo!

Once I was done with the ink blending, I splattered the sheet with water and with white pearl Gansai Tambi watercolor. When everything was dry, I used a white inkpad and a stencil (very similar to Heffy Doodle Rays the Roof) to simulate the sunrays coming from above and then I used the biggest die from the Heffy Doodle Stitched Slimline Trio set to cut out a perfect slimline rectangle.

I also created the sandy seabed on a small scrap of cardstock using Distress Oxide Antique Linen and Walnut Stain and cutting it out with a hill die and the bottom of the Stitched Slimline Trio rectangle.

I stamped the images from the Catherine Pooler Ocean Chums stamp set and I colored them with Copic markers, I added details with a white gel pen and I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

At this point I placed the images on the background and I decided where to add the sentiment, then I used the HUGS from Heffy Doodle Slimline Quartet dies on the ink blended panel and on a piece of white cardstock. I die cut another rectangle from white cardstock and glued the ink blended one over it, then I fill the "voids" with the white letters for giving them dimension. I also cut the HUGS letters out of Lawn Fawn Perlescent Vellum and glued them over the white ones: you cannot see it in the pictures, but I can assure you that the effect is simply awesome, is seems like the letters are made out of mother of pearls! It's just a small detail but it changes the card completely, too bad I wasn't able to capture it on camera.

Once I was happy with the background, I used foam squares to keep the images in place and I attached the panel to a white card base.
