Xmas Hugs Card

 It's December, yay!!

Today I'm on the Heffy Doodle blog with this cute Christmas card. I looked through my stash for finding something that could work for a holiday card and I choose the Forest Leaves die, the Bed Heads stamps/dies and the Stitched Alphabetters dies for the sentiment.

I started with the garland: first of all, I took a piece of eva foam and I used two circles die (approximately 2" and 2,5") to create a solid ring to use as a base for the garland; I die cut the oak leaf from  the Forest Leaves dies several times on dark green cardstock and then glued them over the ring. I used various embellishments I had in my stash to decorate it and I also used a die from Mama Elephant to create the bow I placed on top of the garland.

I stamped the bear from Bed Heads stamp set, colored it with E30s Copic markers and cut it with its coordinating die and I did the same with a Santa hat from a Mama Elephant stamp set. I added highlights with a white gel pen and I added the hat to the bear using foam squares.

For the background I used the Woodgrain Texture Background die on a piece of white cardstock and the largest die from the Scallop Frames on a piece of red cardstock. I used a Gansai Tambi gold watercolor to add splatters to the white rectangle and I also used the same watercolor to add some gold details to the edges of the leaves on the garland.

For the sentiment I used the Stitched Alphabetters dies to cut out the XMAS word on matte red metallic cardstock and on eva foam to give it depth and I also stamped the HUGS word from the Get Well Greetings stamp set on matte gold metallic cardstock. Top tip: I suggest you not to stamp on this type of cardstock, as you can see it didn't turned out very well!  I tried to stamp it several times with different inks and markers but it kept on fading or staining... I also tried other gold cardstocks but none looked good on the card as this one so I ended up using it anyway :)

At this point I just had to assemble the card by placing all the elements using glue or foam squares. I also added some gold/silver yarn and two little hollies I made using green leaves made with the Tree-Mendous Peekaboo Tree die and red jewels for the berries.

I hope you enjoyed my project and see you soon on the Heffy Doodle blog!

I'm using this card for entering Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Happy crafting.
