Monkey Birthday Hugs Card

Up in the sky, you can fly
You will make it if you try

My grand-nephew recently turned one and for the occasion I made this simple card using, among the others, the Chimply The Best stamps and dies sets, the Oval Masquerade stencil and the Cloudy Skies stencil.

I started with the images: on a piece of Heffy Doodle Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock I stamped the monkey from Chimply The Best stamps, the balloons from Popping By stamps, the gift from A Little Shellfish and the hat from the Quill You Be Mine stamp set using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I colored them using Copic Markers, I used the coordinating dies (Chimply The Best, Popping By, A Little Shellfish, Quill You Be Mine) to cut them out and I later added details with a white gel pen.

For the background I took half a sheet of Heffy Doodle white cardstock and I ink blended Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean over the Oval Masquerade stencil and the Cloudy Skies stencil. I love the effect, it really looks like puffy clouds! Once the sky was ready, I used the biggest Imperial Stitched Rectangles die to cut the panel out.

For the sentiment, I stamped the "Birthday Hugs" from the Wavy Banner Sentiments stamps on a piece of yellow cardstock and I used the Wavy Banner die to cut the banner. Now everything was ready, I used the Heffy Doodle Mini Paper Trimmer to trim a sheet from the Wildflowers Patterned Paper Pad and I glued the sky background over it. After that, I used pieces of the Heffy Doodle 3mm Deep Foam tape to place everything in place.

I'm using this card for entering the Simon Says Stamp Instagram ChallengeLayer It Up.

I hope you liked my project and see you soon!

Happy crafting.
