Heffy Doodle x Picket Fence Studios IG Hop: Warmest Hugs Card

by - 3:00 PM

It's never too early to start making holidays cards!

Hey there and welcome back to my blog! Today I'm sharing with you the card I made for the Heffy Doodle x Picket Fence Studios Instagram Hop. If you're reading this before by Sept 6th at 11:59 PM EDT you're still in time to partecipate: Day 1 Lineup starts here and Day 2 Lineup starts here. Good luck!

For my card I used the Nutcracker Ballet Paper Glaze Lux Ombre from Picket Fence Studios and the Zig-a-zig Ah Chevron dies, the Slimline Quartets dies and the Wanna Build A Snowman Stamps and dies.

I was really eager to try the Paper Glaze: I swear, this stuff is amazing!! You can't image how glittery it is and the Nutcracker Ballet colors are absolutely gorgeous, especially that deep ocean green/blue! My only advice is to use a heavy cardstock because you will need a very strong base to work on.

That said, I took a sheet of heavy watercolor cardstock, I virtually divided it in four parts and I covered the first three with the single colors. On the other one, I used all the colors and I blended them together.

Once it was dry, I trimmed the sheet down and I used the Zig-a-zig Ah Chevron dies on each one of them: I like placing them as close as possible so I can end up with the "original" die cuts plus those tiny chevron lines you can spot here and there on the card.

While the glitter paste was drying, I stamped the cute penguins from the Wanna Build A Snowman Stamps on Alcohol Markers Friendly Cardstock and I colored with Copic Markers, trying to match the Nutcracker Ballet Paper Glaze Lux Ombre colors. I used R80s for the pinks and BG10s for the greens. I added details with a white gel pen and then I cut them out with their coordinating dies.

I used Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers (with a bit of Black Soot on top) on a little piece of Heffy Doodle White Cardstock and I used the HUGS die form the Slimline Quartets set to cut it out. I also cut out the words a couple of times from white cardstock and glued each letter together.

For the pink sentiment, I used Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick on a small strip of cardstock and I stamped the phrase from the Wanna Build A Snowman Stamps on it, then I trimmed it down a bit. I cut a slightly bigger white strip too and I glued the pink one above.

I die cut two Imperial Stitched Rectangles dies and glued them together to create a firm base, then I had so much fun designing my own holiday sweater pattern by using pretty much all the Zig-a-zig Ah Chevron die cuts. I'm so proud of the result, I really wish I could turn it into a real sweater!!

Once the background was done, I took all the other pieces and I added them to the card using glue or foam tape, then I placed the panel on a white card base.

I'm entering this card on the Simon Says Stamp August Challenge "Layer It Up".

I hope you liked my projects and see you tomorrow with the blog posts for the cards I made for the new Heffy Doodle Release!

Happy crafting.
