Koality Hugs No Line Coloring Card
Mama, I love you, Mama, I care
Mama, I love you, Mama, my friend
You're my friend...
I usually include flowers in my Mother's Day cards and, after watching this awesome tutorial by Sandy Allnock for making blossoms using Copic markers, I knew I HAD to try it! I was inspired by the beautiful blooming wisteria we have in our garden, as I thought lilac would be a great match for the warm grey of the koalas.
I started by stamping the critters using Memento Desert Sand ink in the middle of a Heffy Doodle Alcohol Marker Friendly Cardstock sheet, then I stamped them on masking tape, fussy cut them and placed the mask over the koalas. It wasn't necessary but I wanted to be sure I wouldn't color over them.
I started sketching the branches with an E31 Copic marker and then I made the flowers using almost every lilac marker in my stash, starting with the light ones and finishing with the dark ones. Following Sandy's tutorial, I completed the branches using brown markers and I finally removed the masking tape and colored the koalas.
I trimmed the card panel into a square and I decided to color the background with a very light blue marker because it was too white for me: I did it twice, then I added highlights with a white gel pen and I set the drawing aside to dry. In the meantime, I took a small piece of white cardstock and ink blended it using Distress Oxide in Wilted Violet, then I heat embossed the sentiment from the Koality Hugs stamp set using white embossing powder and I trimmed the piece down to the right size. I glued the square over a lilac card base, then I used foam tape to attach the sentiment in place.
That's all for today, I hope you enjoyed my project and see you soon!
Happy crafting.
