Happy New Year 2020 Card

With this card I wanna wish you all a Happy 2020!

This card came up to me when I saw that Pantone's color for 2020 is Classic Blue.. which happens to be my favorite color. I don't use blue in my cards very often, though, apart from sky backgrounds, so here's the perfect occasion for making a blue new year card!

I had this Mama Elephant alphabet stamp set (Color Me Letters) since ages but haven't use it before and I thought it would be fun to use Little Agenda critters instead of the 0s on the year. I first though of using bunnies or cats, then I remembered that the penguins are so chubby.. bang, I found the perfect zeros!!

I started by stamping penguins and letters with Scrapbook.com Hybrid Ink: Charcoal (Grey 3) then colored them with Copic using mainly B90s markers.

For the background, which was meant to be the star on this card, I decided to try a fun technique I never used before: ink smooshing. I "stamped" Distress Oxides in Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Blueprint Sketch on a silicone surface, added water and then smooshed my paper over it. I used Arches Cold Pressed watercolor paper and I tried with three different pieces: the one you see on the card was the best one, I like the white spaces and the contrast between the darkest and lightest colors. I also added some splatters using Gansai Tambi watercolors in White and White Gold for a bit of shine.
I applied the "Happy 2020" over by panel with foam tape and cover the letters with clear Wink of Stella. I finally adhered everything on a white card base.

I'm entering this card on Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Simon Says Instagram Challenge.
